The KinShip Project is an ambitious durational public artwork,   developing a variety of socially engaged cultural initiatives at the park over the course of 15 months. The overall aim is to develop a real sense of connection between the community and its park. This kin-like connection is a civic goal, to have people to treat the park like part of their wider family.”

This ambitious project will take place in Tramore Valley Park throughout 2022 aiming to reconnect us to plants, animals, insects, water, & air through creativity, community, & the imagination to develop a kin-like connection. This ‘Kin-like relationship’ was the driving factor behind the visual direction taken. We wanted to create a positive visual experience that will be a stepping stone in KinShip’s mission to change the ecology of thinking in relation to the wider community of life in Tramore Valley Park. Capturing the unusual and exciting processes of how the park works and what makes it unique. Enhancing and showcasing the wonderful details that otherwise may have been dismissed.

KinShip’s identity was created closely alongside Marilyn Lennon and Sean Taylor who’s early research and deep understanding of the park helped shape the feel and character of the brand. The knowledge they were able to share helped bring it life.

“Incredibly satisfying, a little messy, and hands on. Everything can be undone, there are no limits. Joy can come from sourcing and selecting the materials (once thought to have served its purpose) which reflects on the positive attitude of KinShip.”

KinShip is the title given as a guiding philosophy for  how we engage with the wider Community of life. Throw away culture and biodiversity are starting points of the projects focus.

We felt that the medium of collage, which can be characterised by the act of reusing materials and scraps of paper, is fitting for this project. Incredibly satisfying, a little messy, and hands on. Everything can be undone, there are no limits. Joy can come from sourcing and selecting the materials (once thought to have served its purpose) which reflects on the positive attitude of KinShip.
